CMS Begin To Phase Out Squash.

As if the ongoing parking and traffic issues surrounding the Hamptons Mosque weren’t enough, we’ve today been informed that one of the squash courts will be replaced with a gym.

DEAR MEMBERS

NO CONSULTATION with squash members

We’ve spoken to a number of squash members, who are furious. But this seems to be a recurring pattern with Hampton/CMS, they don’t actually care what their loyal customers think.

The squash section used to be huge. Every Sunday you’d struggle to get a court, right up until early evening, and the bars would be packed after the social games finished.

Despite some rather odd claims that squash membership is growing, the truth is that the squash courts are occupied on average for less than 25% of the available hours.

is this another Poor Business Decision ?

It’s something we’ve highlighted before, Hamptons is run by directors with no experience in this field, and the centre management team are woefully out of their depth too.

Remember this is a management team that has wiped nearly half a million pounds off of the asset value of the centre in just three years. We wouldn’t consider Hamptons to be a “thriving community sports and leisure facility”. The only thriving sections are the mosque and madrassah.

Adding a gym will require investment in new equipment, protective flooring, additional risk management and public liability insurance. Where’s that money coming from ?

Do Hamptons think they can compete with the council run facilities, or the dozen or so private gyms around the district ?

The Hamptons Gym will be just 10m x 7m.

BUT is there a hidden agenda ?

We believe this isn’t a genuine attempt to improve activities, it’s the phasing out of the squash courts, to allow the ground floor to be opened up to increase prayer space. But it’s not a mosque.

is this the start of the transition from mosque to megamosque
